Poor mite

It's been a day of ups and downs.

Baby Spouse does not look at all like Winston Churchill, and is in fact incredibly gorgeous, though I could be biassed.

N is, understandably, very emotional, and a bit all over the place. I think we can get to know her pretty well and the SW from NLA has been helpful in giving us tips about what's appropriate and not.

Now for the worrying news. Despite being a good weight for his reasonably high gestational age, he just failed his car seat test (a breathing test for preemies). He was just taken down to the NICU. Those are not words you want to hear. It's possible he has a little reflux but he needs to be monitored for 24h for apnea. We may get to stay in the unit, we do need to stay one night at least, and if he fails the test again he'll be in for a week.

Of course he's gorgeous, bless the child.

Fingers crossed Baby Spouse is just being a tad mardy about this sitting-up-AND-breathing thing and will be absolutely fine tomorrow. Thinking of you.

oh no, what a trying day for all of you - baby spouse, N, and you too! (And undoubtedly Mr Spouse back at home, too). I hope that it's something straightforward and they can release the little 'un quickly. And I hope you manage to get some sleep, wherever you end up staying!

so glad he's gorgeous. When you are ready really hope for a picture.

My understanding is that the breathing car seat thing is not a horrible indicator and although it will be gutting to spend a week in the NICU it will be ok in the end.

Oh, poor little fellow! I know he was born earlyish and it's better to get him what he needs now than miss a potential problem, but it must be so scary to be separated from him that way.
